Develop Your Own House Cleaning Checklist

How much time to you spend cleaning your home each day or each week?  When you walk through your home does it look clean or does it look cluttered?   You have to remove the clutter before you can start to clean.  The first item that should go on your house cleaning checklist is a walk through of your home to look for what is out of place.  Put everything away and your home will look a lot cleaner.  If you can develop the habit of putting things back where they belong immediately after you use them your home will appear cleaner to anyone that enters it.

For a quick and routine approach to house cleaning look at the rooms you use the most.  Start your housecleaning check list with the room you use most.  if it is the kitchen divide it into the most apparent areas:

counter tops
stove top
kitchen sink
floors

After you do the dishes take a minute or two to wipe down the counter tops,  then the stove top and end up with the sink.  The last thing that needs to be done is the floor to get everything that ended up there when you did the others.

Most of us start and end our days in the bathroom.  If your house cleaning check off list ends there you will wake up to a clean bathroom in the morning.  After using the sink or the shower wipe everything down with your wash cloth.  Always squeegee the shower door after use and you will avoid soap scum and calcium deposits.  The last thing before you turn out the light give the toilet bowl a quick scrub and then go off to bed.

Your bedroom is your key to a complete house cleaning checklist.  An unmade bed will haunt you each time you walk through the bedroom.  As soon as everyone it up,  make the bed and put the pillows and throws in place.  Clothing that is not in a drawer or hanging in a closet is clutter and should be put away.  It only takes a couple of minutes but you will feel much better about it.  Before you leave the room, look at your bed stands.  Keep the surface clean there and your bedroom will look clean too.

Houses come in all sizes and room configuration.  Start your house cleaning list by creating an inventory of your rooms.  Be sure to include hallways and entryways that are not specifically part of another room.  The following rooms would be found in a typical home:

Unless you had a party there the night before your living room and dining room can be cleaned as you walk through.  In most cases all it will take is fluffing the pillows on the couch and wiping down the coffee table.  Pick up any glasses or other items and return them to the kitchen.  After you finish your breakfast put everything away and do the dishes.  Clean the counter tops and finish with the sink.  Your House cleaning schedule will be complete and you are free to leave the house.
